Say What?! "Quote of the Week" -- Nobody's Supposed to Be Here By: Deborah Cox

What up Paper Chasers, it's ya gurl LoudPen here to introduce this week's, Say What?! "Quote of the Week" which is Nobody's Supposed to Be Here by Deborah Cox. Today's post was written by the lovely Miss @MD20737 of the blog, Blue Soda Cake. She has written for the LPE in the past as she did a Buzz-Kill of the Week post. I'm happy to have her back at the LPE to explore this thing called Black Love. With no further adieu...

Nobody's Supposed to Be Here

Everyone has been in relationships that have left a bad taste in their mouth, or a scar on their heart. That was me going into my college years. I realized my high school love and ex boyfriend was a different person than who I initially met. I realized I wasn't as important to him as he was to me. I also realized how interested and active he was with other people, while I sat around playing good girlfriend. I learned the most important lesson of my life NEVER SIT AROUND AND WAIT FOR A MAN!! I got to college ready to be wild and have thousand boyfriends, and party all night every weekend but it didnt work out like that.

I laid eyes on my boyfriend of 6 years aka Love of my life ( yes I am silly in love ) . I saw him and felt a connection instantly. We became friends. He wasnt feeling me like I was feeling him, so I accepted the friend zone, secretly hoping I would get out and become dateable lol After the longest year ever things started to change I noticed we spent more time together, and more importantly more time alone. Next thing I know im getting excited to see him getting extra cute, becoming available, etc. After being made to feel like crap by the previous man, this new man had snuck into my heart without warning. From the time I saw him until now I couldnt fight the feelings I have for him. All the distrust, and disdain I had for the opposite sex was replaced with happiness, love, and reverence. So I dedicate Deborah Cox How Did You Get Here

Black love is beautiful, strong, powerful, and irreplaceable. Without it we fail as a society, as man, woman, child, etc. We are nothing without each other. Currently the media wants us to believe the relationship between black man and woman is based on money and if you dont have it, you are nothing. We are everything together and not much apart. I can only ask that we stop thinking of what happened and think of what we could be. To forgive one another is how we build and progress. Don't punish your new one, for the old one. The new one didn't make you stay with the old one. Love.
